DIY Halloween Banner

Hello there! Halloween is around the corner. For those of use who enjoy the spirit of Halloween Today I bring you a fun and festive banner for the Halloween season. it’s really easy to make and takes little to no time { well maybe a bit more time than my usual tutorials}. Here is how I choose to make my Halloween Banner.

You will need:

  • Cardstock Paper (Different colors)
  • Cutting utensil, Scissors and/or exacto knife
  • Pencil
  • Parchment or computer paper
  • Twine
  • Glue

Let’s get started,

1. Start by creating your template. Use your computer paper and pencil write out the word(s) that you want put on your banner. I went with the classic BOO!. Using your cutting utensils cut out your word(s).

2. Once you have your template trace it onto your Cardstock paper and cut it out once more. If you feel like you can go straight to the cardstock paper without the need of a template feel free to do so and skip step 1.

3. Place the tracing paper over the letters to create blood dripping patterns on the letters.

4. Once finish, place the template on a red cardstock paper and cut it out. Use glue and glue the blood drips on the letters.

You can stop there if you like and you will still have a good looking banner, but if you want to add a bit more spook to your banner keep reading to learn how to create a Pumpkin, a knife and a Bat to add to your banner.

The Pumpkin

1. Sketch out your Pumpkin with all the facial features. I freehanded mine,  you can print yours from the internet if you like.

2. Cut out your template onto your Orange cardstock paper.

3. Using an exacto knife cut out the facial features onto your Black cardstock paper.

4. Using an Orange marker create the groove of the Pumpkin.

5.  Glue the eyes, nose and mouth and you’re finish.

The Knife

1. Sketch out your knife template.

2. Cut out the body of your template out of Silver cardstock paper.

3. Cut the handle out of Black cardstock paper and finally cut three small circle out of the silver cardstock paper and glue them to the handle making sure that they are evenly spaced out.

4.  Then glue the handle to the body of the knife.

5. Create some blood drips on your knife using Red paper.

PS if you want to showcase both sides of your knife cut two of every piece repeat steps 3-5  and glue both pieces together.

The Bat

  1. Sketch or print out a Bat template and cut it out. I freehanded mine. Use the template and cut the Bat out of Black cardstock paper.

Let’s assemble the banner.

Use a hole puncher and add two holes at the top of the Pumpkins and the letters, one hole in each wing of the Bats. Cut a piece of twine and start by feeding in a Bat then a Pumpkin, the B, the Os’, the Pumpkin and finally the Bat. Feed the twine trough the first hole and out the second so that the majority of the twine is in the back. Use double sided tape to attach the Knife to the first O. If its needed add a piece of tape to the back of any item to secure the  twine in place.
